Welcome to our 'Meet the Spider AF Team' series! This time, we're proud to showcase our talented UI/UX Designer working hard to give everyone the best user experience on Spider AF's website, Josh. Get to know his background, his role at Spider AF, and what makes him a valuable member of our team.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I'm Josh and was born in Los Angeles, California. I was raised in Mexico as a kid and was later back in the States for the rest of my adulthood. I now live in Tokyo, Japan and have a family of my own.

What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?

I was always intrigued by the arts and therefore when I graduated highschool I decided to pursue something within that field. I graduated with a Bachelors of Animation of Science and later decided to return back to school to pursue a degree in Web Design.

Web design was a field in demand at the time, and for me personally it mixed a passion of both arts as well as tech. So I found a home in that particular field and decided to focus on UX/UI design with knowledge of Front End.

Can you share a proud moment or accomplishment in Spider AF so far?

For me seeing our global division expand to what it is now has been an amazing experience. In particular being able to contribute to our website, use new technologies to add value has been a proud moment for me personally.

What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?

During my search in the arts sector I actually had pursued a culinary arts degree, so during the few months learning culinary I'm able to cook a lot of stuff from scratch.

How do you like to spend your weekends or time off?

Weekends tend to be family time and in rare occassions I get to see close friends. Otherwise my attention goes to my one year old whose energy does not end.

How would you describe the culture at Spider AF?

We have, in my opinion, a very learning forward-driven culture. There's always innovation, research and creativity in the overall development.

Although there's different age ranges, everyone works hard in what they do and are very passionate to bring something to the table.

Where is the best place you have visited?

I still haven't traveled enough to give this question a fair answer. But I have visited many countries with beautiful areas from the Great Wall in China, to the many temples in Japan, to the grand canyon in the US, or the ocean blue beaches in Cancun, Mexico.

What is the best career lesson you have learned so far?

Communication and Patience. Be able to communicate things you can and can't do. You will also work with many people, with many personalities so having the patience to understand that individual is important.
