Spider AF's tracker can be integrated directly with your Google Analytics. By doing so, you can segment, filter, and compare invalid and valid traffic in Google Analytics without disrupting your standard analytics workflow.

---

This is a step-by-step process on how to connect Spider AF to your Google Analytics 4 account.

Please note that GA4 allows setting up to 50 custom dimensions per account. This integration uses one custom dimension, so if you already have 50 set up, you will not be able to add this integration.

1. GA4 Setup

Click on Admin in the left-hand navigation and click on Custom Definitions under Property.

Click on Create Custom Dimensions on the right side of the screen.

  • Enter a Dimension name that is easy to understand when analyzing. This can be changed later on.
  • Select Event for the scope.
  • Enter a description of your choice.
  • Enter safivt as the event parameter.

2. GTM Setup

a. Variable

Start by setting a variable in GTM. Click on Variables and then New on the right side of User-Defined Variables.

  • Enter dimension1 as the name.
  • Select Data Layer Variable for the variable type.
  • Enter dimension1 as the data layer variable name.

If you are already using dimension1 as a name or parameter in GTM, please inform your Spider AF customer success representative.

b. Trigger

Next, create a new trigger in GTM. Click on Triggers and then New on the right side of the screen.

  • Enter safivt as the name.
  • Select Custom Event for the trigger type.
  • Enter safivt as the event name.
  • Select Some Custom Events for the location of this trigger.
  • In the next section, select Event > equals > safivt respectively.

c. Tag

Lastly, set up a new tag in GTM. Click on Tags and then New on the right side of the screen.

  • Enter a name of your choice. In this example, we will be using safivt GA4.
  • Select Google Analytics: GA4 Event for the tag type.
  • Choose your current GA4 tag under the configuration tag.
  • Select safivt for the event name.
  • Enter parameter name safivt and value {{dimension1}} for the event parameters.
  • Select the trigger safivt that was created in step b.

3. Update Spider AF’s Tag

To finish the integration, you will need to change the Spider AF’s tag for all of the pages. Please contact your customer success representative to get the new tag that you will need for the update.

4. Save changes on GTM

Please make sure to save the changes you have made on GA4 and publish once all the steps have been completed.

For problems regarding the setup, feel free to contact us through our support channels.
